RM Sotheby’s sells a total of €26.7m at its Villa Erba sale during the Villa d’Este weekend in Italy
The Ferrari 212 Export lead the way for a total of ten €1m-plus cars at RM Sotheby’s Lake Como Villa Erba sale, selling for a total of €6.72m. Sales totaled €26.7m, with 34 of the 39 lots, 84 per cent, finding new owners. Two of the high-profile Ferraris, including the 250 California and 250 SWB Competizione failed to sell
While seven of the top ten sellers were still Ferraris, four of those were the more modern supercars, with a 288 GTO making an impressive €1.9m. In fact, the sale offered one of each of the Ferrari flagships from the 288, F40, F50 right up to the Enzo (See prices below). Perhaps one of the surprise successes was the 2007 599 GTB HGTE, which sold for €358,400. The fact it is one of the ten European-market cars fitted with a manual transmission means that this is one of the very last manual Ferraris you could buy, hence the premium now.
Other strong results included the 1974 Lancia Stratos Stradale road car, which sold for €431,200, and a gorgeous 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Villa d’Este Coupe making above estimate at €784,000.
