The original Vanderbilt cup race, New York, in 1904

Film of what is believed to be the first international motor race in America and one of the first major motor races anywhere recorded on film. Includes great footage of the pioneering race cars at the beginning of the 20th centrury and the huge number of curious spectactors who turned out to witness this brand new sports spectacle.
