If you find yourself travelling towards the Poland/German border along the main A4 autobahn, it's advisable to take swift detour to the Saxon town of Zwickau. Known as the home of Horch and Audi in the pre-war era, and Trabant afterwards, its museum is an eclectic mix of cars, and very nicely presented indeed.

The museum's in a fitting location, as it's where August Horch worked for decades. The museum is located in the heart of the
former Audi plant, one of the birthplaces of automotive history, and is cleverly arranged so that you walk through its history in cars...
It's been around a while now, having been open since September 2004, but still worth a detour - especially as it's only five euros to get in and seems to be staffed entirely by ex-factory workers with genuine tales to tell.
Finding it is easy... drive to Zwickau and follow the signs in.
