US auction house returns to Auburn for its Spring Collector Car Weekend with over 500 cars going under the hammer. Here are some of the highlights
Auctions America’s Auburn Spring Collector Car Weekend will be returning over the weekend of 7-9 May, boasting a selection of over 500 cars. Headlining the sale will be a 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T Hardtop as well as a 2006 Ford GTX1 TT ‘Spyder’. Now in its fifth year, the sale will also play host to the annual car corral, swap meet as well as the return of the AACA Special National Spring Meet.
Having been completely restored to a high standard, the Lemon Twist-coloured 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger features a powerful 425bhp V8 Hemi engine, as well as the extremely rare and desirable N96-Shaker Hood option and four-speed manual transmission. It’s expected to sell for $340,000-$380,000.
Also expected to attract a significant amount of interest is the 2006 Ford GTX1 TT ‘Spyder’. Around 30 of these drop-top Ford GTs were built by Genaddi Design Group, fitted with a new 5.4-litre V8 engine producing around 1000bhp.
‘For collectors and enthusiasts alike, particularly those in the Midwest and surrounding states, Spring heralds the arrival of the “busy season” – an opportunity to pull their cars out of hibernation and enjoy a jam-packed calendar of automotive events. At Auctions America, we’re proud that Auburn Spring has become a staple on that calendar, presenting not only a tremendous variety of collector cars for bids, but also offering great automotive entertainment, as well as opportunity to enjoy the wonderful camaraderie offered by the hobby,’ says Megan Boyd, Car Specialist, Auctions America.
