A DeLorean DMC-12 with just 24 miles on the clock will go on sale at Historics at Brooklands’ 6 June auction
UK auction house Historics at Brooklands will offer an as-new 24-mile DeLorean DMC-12 at its 6 June sale. The stainless steel sports car has never been road-registered, and since it was originally shipped out to the USA in 1981 it has remained in ideal storage conditions – making this an incredibly rare chance to buy an as-new DeLorean.
While good DeLoreans have been selling for £25k-plus, this prime example is expected to make £34,000-£39,000 due to its low mileage. The condition is described as ‘immaculate’, and it was also apparently the last ever car to leave the factory in 1981.
It was shipped to a DeLorean dealership in New Jersey, where it remained until it made the long journey back across the Atlantic in November 2000. It once again remained unused, and is now back on the market, with the original US-market legislative paperwork still stuck to the inside of the windscreen.
Thanks to the problems surrounding John DeLorean and the bankruptcy of the company in 1982, just 9000 DeLorean DMC-12s were ever built. Interesting Giugaro styling and a starring roll in the Back To The Future trilogy has resulted in a loyal following for the DeLorean.
