One of just seven 1947 Delahaye 135M Narval’s joins growing auction list for Monterey Car Week.
An incredibly rare Delahaye 135M Narval has been confirmed for the forthcoming Rick Cole auction during the Monterey Car Week.
The Delahaye joins a growing list of cars set to descend on Monterey on August 10-16, and is set to be one of the most exclusive yet, with only seven examples of the car ever being built. It will join a 35-car hand-selected consignment on offer in California.
The Figoni et Falaschi “Narval” on offer was one of the original seven built in 1947, featuring its iconic custom coachwork as designed by Figoni. Sold from new in the United States, the car was restored in the 1980’s before then spending its life at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway museum in Indiana.
The car was largely advanced for its time upon launch, with independent front suspension, bendix cable-operated brakes, 17-inch center-lock wire wheels, and a choice of a partially-synchronized four-speed manual or Cotal pre-selector gearboxes all available to its discerning customers.
The cars original motor, a 115bhp, 3,557 cc OHV inline six-cylinder engine has been located and will be featured in the sale price.
2015 Rick Cole Auction entries include a number of impressive Ferrari cars, including the first alloy 275 GTB/4 built, as well as a steel-bodied 275 GTB/4, a 275 GTB, and 365 GTC. A late entry will include a Maserati 450S.
