1969-1987 DAIMLER Sovereign SI-SIII specifications

The Sovereign name was re-used for the Daimler version of the XJ6, introduced in 1969. As with the original Sovereign, any ‘Daimlerisations’ were confined to the most minor of details; the traditional fluted grille and Daimler badges here, there and everywhere. The original engine options were either the 2.8-litre or 4.2-litre XK variant; by now Daimler’s wonderful V8 engine – which might have suited the Sovereign so well – had ceased production. The Sovereign name continued through the Series 2 and 3 versions of the XJ until 1983.
