1963-1970 DAIHATSU Compagno/800/Spider specifications

Few would have suspected that when it arrived in the UK in 1966 that the unassuming Daihatsu Compagno was the first in a tidal wave of Japanese imports that threatened to flood the UK during the troubled ‘70s. But the separate chassis’d Compagno was Daihatu’s first four wheel offering, and while it didn’t set the world on fire, its excellent build quality and intricate styling were a shape of things to come. It was imported in tiny numbers, and withdrawn soon after its launch – so finding a UK car would be tough, but a Japanese market coupé is a stylish left-field choice.
