1968-1972 DAF 55 Marathon specifications Classic and Performance Car

The 55 was a big step forward for the Dutch firm. It used a Renault inline four-cylinder water-cooled engine that offered a huge improvement in performance, even if the characteristic hum of the older model was gone. To celebrate its success in the London-Sydney Marathon, DAF introduced a Marathon upgrade kit, boosting power, handling and roadholding. It was an immediate success and soon became a fully-fledged production model. Renault parts commonality means that availability is good, and the club has excellent back-up.
