Citroen and Le Coq Sportif celebrate 70 years of the H Van

Citroen and Le Coq Sportif celebrate 70 years of the H Van Classic and Performance Car

Citroen has teamed up with Le Coq Sportif to create a classic H Van, and current Dispatch, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the popular commercial vehicle.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the iconic ‘Type H’ van, Citroen has teamed up with Le Coq Sportif to create a pair of brightly liveried mobile bicycle workshops – one classic H Van, and its modern Dispatch counterpart – which will be used at various sporting events throughout the year.

This incredibly versatile utilitarian French commercial vehicle is adored the world over for its unique corrugated panels and squared off look. In the last few years, the retro chic Citroen H Van may have become the favoured choice of the artisanal caterers seen at festivals and events, but the Type H has long been an icon for so much more.

The classic van was first launched in 1947, and with production running up to 1981 almost 500,000 were produced. In traditional Citroen fashion, the Type H van was not just useful and affordable, but also incredibly innovative – offering front-wheel drive for the first time on a mass-produced van.

Le Coq Sportif is a well-known French brand, which has been involved in the manufacture of sporting equipment for over 130 years. Both of the mobile workshops have been created to suit each van, with the classic Type H receiving a much more traditional light coloured wood workbenches and chocolate-coloured leather seats. The modern Dispatch van is much more up to date, with black wood and white leather seats. Both have a matching white, red and blue paint finish.

Both vans have been unveiled at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Birmingham, and will go on to tour a number of events throughout the year.
