1959-1964 CITROEN Bijou specifications

1959-1964 CITROEN Bijou specifications Classic and Performance Car

Citroën built cars at its Slough base in the UK, and the production output was comprised exclusively of 2CVs between 1953 and 1959. The cars failed to sell well on this side of the Channel and, when the plug was pulled, the Slough factory was left with a number of uncompleted chassis. In an attempt to sex-up the 2CV, the Bijou was conceived – a tidy-looking glassfibre coupé underpinned by 2CV mechanics. It sold at a hefty premium yet, thanks to its heavier body, was slower than the car it was based on. Most survive, with a healthy following.
