After taking a year out to solve production problems, Chevrolet returned with an all-new and vastly improved Corvette in 1984. Sadly, the ’Vette’s image was blunted by styling that – when compared with what had gone before – was clean and tidy rather than wild and rebellious. Fans welcomed the return of a convertible version in 1986, now worth around 40% more than a coupé, However, the real collectible arrived in 1990 in the shape of the ZR-1 coupé. Lotus were involved in developing the aluminium four-cam V8 and handling settings.
