1955-1957 CHEVROLET Corvette C1 specifications

1955-1957 CHEVROLET Corvette C1 specifications Classic and Performance Car

This is the version that started the Corvette legend, thanks to the input of two men. Bill Mitchell turned it from good-looking into gorgeous and Zora Arkus Duntov added power. By early ’57 even the carburetted version (now 4.7 litres) was up from 195bhp to as high as 270bhp. In place of the old two-speed auto, a manual gearbox was now standard. Sales rose five-fold, just don’t ask about the handling. The optional Rochester fuel-injected ‘Fuelie’ versions introduced in 1957 attract a 20-25% premium on the prices shown here.
