To be OFFERED AT AUCTION at Auction Americas Auburn Fall event, September 2-6, 2015. Estimate:$ 70,000 - $ 90,000 US For 1967, an all-new Corvette was expected to debut; however the 67 model turned out to be a carryover due to the fact that its successor was found to have some undesirable aerodynamic traits. Chief Engineer Duntov demanded more time in the wind tunnel to assure proper fixes before the car went into production. The all-new 1968 was also thwarted by production delays giving this body style a one-year reprieve. Today, enthusiasts prize the 67 as their favorite among second generation Corvettes.
The 1967 model benefited from numerous detail refinements in anticipation of the all-new 1968 model. Most noticeable were the relocation of the parking brake from under the dash to a centrally mounted position along with a one-year only reversing light between the taillights. Four-way flashers, directional signals with a lane-change feature, larger interior vents, and folding seatback latches were added. Chevrolet built 14,436 convertibles for 1967.
This Little Red Corvette is equipped with the very livable L70 350-hp, 327-cid V-8 and four-speed manual transmission. Painted Rallye over a matching red interior and contrasting white top along with correct Firestone bias play whitewall tires on argent Rally wheels, it makes for a striking presentation. The recipient of NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold Awards, documents are available for inspection as are the original order papers, window sticker, Protect-O-Plate and owners manual. A beautiful restoration in a beautiful color combination!
