The BMW Z8 combines a fabulous V8 engine with a lightweight retro-styled roadster
A fleeting appearance in the Bond film The World Is Not Enough did little justice to the pretty, Henrik Fisker-styled Z8. Dropping the contemporary M5’s V8 drivetrain into a classically styled drop-top that echoed the immortal 507 was a neat move, and limited production means it’s a strong performer on today’s market. Launched in 1999 for £80,000, values of the aluminium-bodied, hand-finished roadster have never really dipped. Bought mostly by collectors in the US, all are left-hand drive and few cover many miles.
