New £280,000 M6 to replace current Z4 GT3 in 2016.
BMW has taken the covers off its latest race car, the 190mph, 2016 BMW M6 GT3. The new coupe racer was revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show this week, and is the first GT3-spec car launched by BMW in nearly six years.
The new-for-2016 car will replace the current Z4 GT3, which has proven successful in its five years of service, with honours including the 2014 Blancpain GT Series championship, and the 2015 Spa 24 Hours.
Under the bonnet of the M6 GT3 lies at 4.4-litre M TwinPower turbo version of the V8 seen more conventionally in the M6 road car. The turbo-unit is linked to a rear transaxle sequential six-speed gearbox/
Professional race teams and those hoping for one hell of a track day can expect a £280,000 price tag, but arguably one of the most competitive GT3 packages on the market for the forthcoming 2016 season.
