BMW 503 Coupe (1956-1959) specifications

BMW 503 Coupe (1956-1959) specifications Classic and Performance Car

The wonderful 503 Coupe was based on BMW's 501 saloon, with an attractive new body

Based on the impressive 501, BMW’s 503 coupé sported an exciting new bodystyle penned by Albrecht Goertz. It introduced a new era of modernism for the marque, but at a hefty price that few could afford. It drove as well as it looked, too, with a top speed of nearly 120mph. The 503 coupé and its convertible sibling were designed primarily for the American market, but sadly, it was far too expensive to take off, and a mere 412 were built. The outcome was disastrous for BMW, which teetered on the edge of bankruptcy by the end of the 1950s.
