1946-1955 BENTLEY MkVI specifications

The first of the postwar Bentleys was also the first with a steel body as standard, although many buyers still took the coachbuilding route. The chassis was quite advanced for its time with independent front suspension, servo brakes, a four-speed gearbox and the very useful centralised chassis lubrication system. The 4257cc (4566cc from 1951) six-cylinder engine gained a reputation for sturdiness; not so the standard body which, despite its painstaking handbuilt construction, showed an unfortunate tendency to rust.
