A 1968 Austin Mini Van, with just 302 miles on the clock, has been offered for sale by Silverstone Auctions
Yet another super-low mileage classic has come to light. This time, a 1968 Austin Mini Van, presented in time-warp condition with a mere 302 miles on the clock. With an estimate of £23,000-£25,000, it will be sold by Silverstone Auctions at the 28 March NEC sale.
First registered in 1968, the Mini Van was originally sold for £400 when new to a buyer in Northern Ireland. Despite this, the owner never managed to pass her driving test, and the Mini remained garaged for the first 30 years of its life.
Having been sat for so long, the van was bought by a local Rover dealer in 1997, and then onto another collector in 2006. Offered in completely original and un-restored condition, the Mini Van features the factory seat protectors and rubber floor mats.
Although we couldn’t recommend driving on them, the car actually wears its original crossply Dunlop tyres, as well as factory fitted Lucas battery and mild steel exhaust, demonstrating just how carefully this car has been looked after.
Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, said: ‘We are thrilled to be offering this virtually unused and untouched Austin Mini Van at our sale on March 28th. This rare find is in ‘as new’ condition and is surely an alluring, promising prospect for Mini or other collectors in the market.’
