1967-1971 AUSTIN 3-Litre specifications Classic and Performance Car

After the handsome Westminster saloon, the 3-Litre - its 1967 replacement - was a big disappointment. Big was the operative word but being saddled with the centre section of the 1800/2200 with a long bonnet and boot tacked on either end did not make it attractive. The cabin was massive, but at the expense of much of the usual luxury and traditional design that buyers expected in a car of this class. Rear-wheel-drive and a 2.9-litre engine shared with the MGC gave reasonable performance, but prestige was lacking and, thus, so were sales.
