1961-1966 AUSTIN-HEALEY Sprite Mk II/III specifications

1961-1966 AUSTIN-HEALEY Sprite Mk II/III specifications Classic and Performance Car

The 1961 MkII was an effort to modernise the Sprite and make it more practical. Unfortunately, it also took away much of its character and novelty. However, it was still affordable and enjoyable and at least passengers now had an opening bootlid to put a limited amount of luggage in. Gone were the upright headlamps, the light units now sitting conventionally either side of the grille. From 1962, there was a bigger 1098cc engine plus front disc brakes, but buyers had to wait until the MkIII of 1964 for door handles and winding windows.
