1967 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super s/n AR859479, engine no. AR00526 47636 Verde Muschio with Tan Interior Descended from the Turismo Internazionale class of Italian saloon car racing, the Giulia Super and its homologated racing variant the Super Ti, are among the earliest sport sedans and are the distant ancestors of today’s widely available “hot hatches”. The technical specification of the Giulia Super was impressive, with disc brakes, the larger 1600cc (rather than 1300cc) dual overhead cam powerplant with twin Webers, 5-speed transmission and a wonderful chassis that allowed the family man tremendous entertainment while still appearing to be a responsible patriarch, an unusually rare combination in the period. As a result of their entertaining driving experience and impressive mechanical specification, the cars are sought after today by enthusiasts who now regard an entertaining performance sedan as commonplace, but may not appreciate how special it was to find such a car in the 1960s.
