Manufactured on 22nd November 1955 and sold on the 21st March 1956 to G.A.P. France. AR02185 is one of the last of the 2 ‘’five window’’ Touring bodied coupes made (480 produced) and of the first Super Sprints. This car came factory fitted with the rare 5 speed floor shift, as most were column shifts (some had subsequent Nardi conversions, as evidenced by firewall panel work) The reason for the factory ordered floor shift in this caris self explanatory as the first owner of the car was Joel Mounier (Fr) whose family was involved in motorsport and converted the 1900 CSS to road-race spec. Early on the car was converted to road racing specs, as evidenced by FIA & CSIA papers when the car was sold in 1986 to it’s second owner, Jason Stewart Wright. Jason was, and is, a member of the Alfa Romeo factory backed historic racing team. Scuderia del Portello. He sold the car in december 1988 to team mate Francesco Stanguellini (IT), who in turn sold the car in 1997 to his sometime navigator and fellow Portello del Scuderia racer, Dr. Vittorio Fini (IT) The sister car to this is in the Stanguellini Museum, it looks exactly the same.
